The Executive Chairman of Jos South Local Government Council of Plateau State, Hon. Gideon Dung Dandareng has disclosed that it can only be an Executive rascality for Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang to approve the suspension of elected Local Government Council Officials.
Hon. Dandareng stated this in an interview he granted to media men which took place in his Rantya County home Jos South Local Government Council of the State.
He said, they just heard about the purported suspension of the elected Local Government Council Officials on social media just like any other person will heard.
Dandareng draw the attention of the people that ” we are not living in a lawless society, or Nigeria is a Banana Republic, but Nigeria is a country which is guided by the law” he said.
He said Nigeria has a constitution and the constitution is binding on everybody including the Governor and the Speaker of the House.
Furthermore, the Jos South Council Boss also stated that Local Government by the definition of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is a third tie of Government and by the provision of section 7 the Local Government are elected officials just as any other elected official of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He thank God that they on the Plateau, they are elected Local Government Officials back by the law and they are democratically elected to govern the activities of their respective local government area for the period of three (3) years which will be elapsing October 2024.
Dandareng in his disclosure revealed that yes, according to the law Assembly was giving right to monitor the activities of the Local Government, which every local government has it legislators which if any local government executive go against the law he or she will be investigated by the local government legislators just like when the Governor goes against the law it is the State Assembly that will deal it him and not the National Assembly or Mr President.
Dandareng also stated that with the position of the Appeal Court yesterday sitting in Jos, he said every decision taking by Rt. Hon. Nuhu Ayuba Abok is null and void.
He said, the Court of Appeal urged that status quo should be maintained and that means Rt. Hon. Yakubu Sanda remain the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly.
Dandareng also revealed that the 17 local government Council Chairmen dully served the State Government with Court injunction which restraint them from taking any action against them.
He said as far as the law is concern, their tenure will elapsed on the 10 of October 2024.
