Nigerians and the good people of Plateau State woke up on thursday 27th, July 2023 with the long awaited list of the nominated Ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to be presented to the Senate for screening as well as Commissioners designates in Plateau State to the State Assembly.
While President Tinubu’s Ministerial list accommodates several interests even outside the ruling party (names from the opposition political parties) in fulfilment of the much expected unity Government, in Plateau State from the inauguration committee, adhoc committees and several other appointments rolled out by the Government, there seems to be NO trace of unity and all inclusive Government or attempts aimed at healing wounds that have existed within the PDP for several years and complete sideline of major stakeholders across Plateau state.
Infact the appointments so far seem to be a perfect reflection of the sharp parallel line drawn between the Mutfwang’s Government and certain key stakeholders within and out of PDP who nurtured the party from zero level to where it is today, and a clear signal that the government may never be friendly within its fold, talk more of members of other political parties.
For the first time Plateau State is directly opposite of the Federal Government since the beginning of democracy in 1999, placing the State in a state of uncertainty despite the high expectations of developments and rapid collective response to cope the insecurity/banditry bedevailing the State.
One wonders if the government is aware that political will is crucial weapon of negotiating stability and progress on the part of any serious Government globally. One wonders if eventually one day a stakeholders town hall meeting will be called and the caliber of stakeholders Plateau is blessed with will agree and surmount courage to attend such a meeting in the face of this nonchalant attitudes towards them.
Several States witnessing peace and massive developments, the collective political will is placed above any other parochial/selfish interest for the betterment of those States.
If the Tinubu led Presidency, despite the resources, strength, machinery of government and capabilities in its possession, is clearly toying the path of unity and inclusiveness in its programs, one wonders the path and the blueprint Plateau is taking under GCM.
