Miskoom Alex Naantuam the Executive Chairman of Shendam Local Government Council and at the same time who double as the ALGON Chairman Plateau State has describe their second coming as triumphal to democracy and the rule of law.
Hon. Naantuam made the disclosure in a telephone interview he granted to this medium and stated that the news coming from the Commissioner of police mandating elected Local Government Council officials to go back to their respective offices
is triumphanism, and is a fact that democracy has won.
He also revealed that, that is always being the agitation, that power should belongs to the people.
And to the constituted authority, once a court order such as this are respected our democracy will surely thrive, and will begin to make progress as a people.
Furthermore, the ALGON Chairman stated that is not like the local government council do not have the capacity to make the desirous change at their various council, but once their power are always being truncated it create gab and the desirous development will slow and will not be achieved.
Said they are happy that the Government have understanding by respecting the judiciary, first by respecting the court order from Bukuru Area Court, and now they respected the court order issued by the High Court, which is superior and competent jurisdiction.
The Council Boss also revealed that is triumph of democracy, and the rule of law over authoritarialism.
Speaking over what the people at the grassroot should expect in their second coming to complete their tenure.
Hon. Naantuam stated that the people should expect massive development and they should be ready to hold the elected officials at the grassroot level accountable and not to fold their arms and watch the elected officials do what they want.
He also call on the electorate to rise up to the occasion and be part of the development he said.
The ALGON Chairman also revealed that now that they are back into their respective offices they are going to propel development with speed that is never imagine.
Speaking over the recent strike action declared by NULGE leadership
Hon. Naantuam describe the action as show of shame.
He said in the labour law, there are some procedures to follow before workers will go on strike.
NULGE officials will not just wake up over night and declare strike just as they did.
He said workers are not politicians, they should allow politicians settled their differences in their own way.
He disclosed that anybody who is on the Plateau will agree with him that there was no news of any break of law and order as they resume their duties in their respective offices in entire 17 Local Government Council of the State.
He call on the NULGE to stop ridiculing Plateau with such action, as he revealed that they have received calls both nationally and internationally that when did labour union become political party.
Hon. Naantuam further disclosed that for the first time Government celebrate workers going on strike in the history of Plateau as a State.
He said they have the capacity to resolve their issues internally as politicians without labour union intruding.
He said why didn’t they go on strike when Local Government elected officials were suspended
The ALGON Chairman call on the union to call off the strike and let them come together and improve on the harmonious working relationship they had in the past.
Hon. Naantuam also revealed that those that were suspended in 2015 if they had taking the matter seriously with the State Government then this thing will have repeat itself.
He said what they are doing now is for the future generation, just like is being done in the western world whereby power is always return to the people.
He said imagine if the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria should wake up one day in conjunction with the National Assembly to declare that all the 36 States Governors are suspended on account of alleged financial misconduct.
He said the constitution is very clear and they are assume innocent until proven otherwise. He also revealed that till date there is no petition written against any of them in that regard.
He also stated that even if there is it is the duty of the antigraft agency that has the power to handle the officers involve.
He also stated that if the Government and the House of Assembly will accuse the Chairmen of financial misappropriation what about the Local Government Councillors he asked?
He also said that can the 17 local government council chairmen involved in financial misappropriation at the same time?
Hon. Miskoom further disclosed that since 2021 there are some landmark judgement from the apex court of the land restraining Governors or State Assembly from either suspending or removing any elected Local Government Council officials.
