Group under the auspices of APC Strategic Monitoring Team on Saturday stated tha the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) drums of war and overheating the Polity misdirection of aggression from itself
Leader of the Group, Comrade Golepji David Wambutda ,made this known while addressing newsmen in Jos .
In his words ” The PDP’s drums of war is a misdirection of aggression from itself, and a threat to peace ‘. The Judiciary is now made the victim and we must rise to defend it and our democracy. “
He added that ” The Court of Appeal is not the enemy, but among the true Gatekeepers of Democracy from its very root”.”
“
The law of the land must have its way regardless of whose ox is gored .
“Emotions, Threats, Intimidation or blackmails cannot subvert the Democracy that is the core Nigerian Politics.”
“This surreptitious style the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has adopted must be made to fall flat on its face .”
He called on all citizens of Plateau state to shun such threats and continue their normal businesses as law abiding citizens.
Golepji noted that instead of issuing such negative trend, they should put their house in order and obey the valid court orders without rancour.
The group also decried the action of PDP by taking verbal words against the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Doengben.
“We in APC cannot seat down in silence and allowed them to ridicule the judiciary and continue heating the Polity unabated”
Golepji Called on the Security Agencies in the state to call the PDP to order.
He added that during the electioneering campaigns, we reminded the people that the P.D.P. had not healed from the blows it got from the courts when it was exempted from participating in Local Government Elections.”
“We reminded the people that despite P.D.P.’s participation in the House of Reps. Election where it won ,the court of appeal did not bat an eyelid when it upheld the P.R.P. candidate’s contention that it had no structure. “
“This was against the backdrop of the failure to comply with the order of the court mandating it to conduct fresh congresses of the party and our constitution “
See what the courts said in layman’s English;
And this Court further held therein on page 24 that, “An issue of qualification of a candidate to contest an election under the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) is both a pre-election and election matter.”
“………The 2nd Petitioner, failed, neglected, or refused to abide by the orders of the High Court in Suit No. PLD/J304/196/2021……………………………
As long as it is in breach of the orders of the High Court, no matter under what guise, it loses its stand to participate in elections the court held.
Suddenly, they have turned around ignoring the judgment to claim that such issues are pre-election matters.
He added that “They have foisted on us the name of meddlesome interlopers as if we are challenging the nomination of their candidates at the primaries. This is not the case. We simply seek the court to take into cognizance of her decision.
The time has come for all Plateau people to show their true nature.
We are people of peace, reasonable, and God fearing. We refuse to be subjected to the negativity occasioned by the arrogant confrontation of the Courts by any political Party.
The PDP had her day with INEC and we obeyed, if God will for us to have it at the Courts, the true dispensers of Justice, we will embrace it with Faith Courage, and Prayer.
It is our genuine hope that Plateau people will reason with these realities and embrace whatever outcomes.
We wish to call on the leader of the P.D.P. Government to allow the Local Government Chairmen to subsist in the interest of Justice and fairness for the deepening of democracy at the grassroots.
The APC Youths also congratulated the President His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinibu Over his well-deserved victory at the Supreme Court.
“May God in his infinite mercy Grant you the Grace and wisdom to drive and deliver the dividends of democracy to Nigerians via the Renewed Hope Agenda” ,the added .
” We wish to reiterate to all peace-loving citizens of Plateau state at home and in the diaspora that there is no tension, that the deep-seated ethno-religious hate in the state is only retrogressive and counterproductive, and as responsible Christians and Muslims who wish to see the elevation of Peace, harmony and shared prosperity across board, we will not devour ourselves even if bad politics persuades us to.
