The Plateau State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress APC, has expresses fear of assassination on its key stakeholders and members on the Plateau.
The party through it’s State Chairman Hon. Rufus Bature made this known to Journalist in a press conference which took place at the State Party Secretariat Kalwa House Jos the Plateau State capital today Monday 19, 2024.
Hon. Bature stated that “it is with heavy heart, pains and anguish that I address you on a very sad and worrisome matter that has just befallen us as a party. You might be aware vthat our Publicity Secretary, Hon. Sylvanus Namang the was murdered vin cold blood by yet to be identified persons in Pankshin at about 8.00pm on Saturday 17th February 2024.
Furthermore, Hon. Bature stated that according to information made available to the party, Hon. Namang was dastardly murdered at a provision store in Pankshin by some gunmen suspected to be assassins along with the owner of the store.
He said,” though details of the unacceptable and unfortunate incident are yet to be released by the security agencies, we as a party feel constraint and also seriously agitated as well as concerned about the circumstances leading to his death for some obvious reasons.
The State Chairman also disclosed that “as you are aware, the deceased was a very vibrant, articulate and fearless spokesman of our party who not only promoted and defended the ideals of the APC, but ensured that it maintained it’s hold of the State at all cost. His posture and disposition towards APC, especially on the Plateau no doubt endeared him to many, though not without some harassments and intimidation by opponents.
The Chairman also stated that, without sounding immodest as a party, they refused to subscribe to the narrative being paddle around on the gruesome murder even when investigations have not been concluded.
Hon. Bature further revealed that the APC view this as a serious matter and want to believe that of it key members and some citizen are no longer safe in Plateau.
Consequently, he demanded for a thorough investigation into the murder and perpetrators of the dastardly act should be brought to justice to allay in any fear that have at the moment engulfed the teeming supporters of the APC.
He also revealed that, while awaiting the outcome of the investigation, he use the opportunity to once more commiserate with the Namang family and indeed the APC not only in Plateau State but the entire country for the great loss.
He call on the APC teeming supporters to remain calm and be law-abiding while awaiting the outcome of the investigation into the matter.
