The Councillors and Members of Jos South Local Government Legislative Assembly met today and after deliberations led by the democratically elected Leader of the Assembly, supported by his Principal Officers and members unanimously passed the following resolutions:
- That we remain steadfast and determined to continue exercising the powers confered on us by the electorates from our various wards to collectively serve as Councillors and Honourable Members in the Jos South Local Government Legislative House.
- That as democratically elected Councillors, our mandate is constitutionally backed and we are determined to stand by our oath of office till the end of our term.
- We affirm our commitment to stand solidly beside the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in every step the Association has taken and will continue to take in resisting the draconian attempt by Plateau State Government to stiffle the Local Government system and deny the people at the grassroot their rights to be governed by democratically elected officials.
- Unanimously, members have committed to be bound by these resolutions and no part will be altered without the unanimous agreement of members of the Jos South Legislative Council.
SIGNED
Rt. Hon. Simon Davou
Leader, Jos South Legislative Council.
