Former Plateau State Governor, Senator Joshua Chibi Dariye, has commiserated with the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum and people of the state over the recent devastating floods in Maiduguri and Jere towns which led to the loss of several lives and destruction of properties as well as farmlands.
Senator Dariye described the situation as quite devastating coming at a difficult period when people are grappling with harsh economic challenges .
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Vice , Kashim Shettima for their swift response in ascertaining the extent of the devastation and coordination of relief materials to the displaced persons.
The former governor equally hailed the response of the federal and Borno state governments for rising up to the occasion which mitigated the extent of loss and damages.
Senator Dariye, expressed shock with the level of destruction caused by the flood and implored International Donor Agencies, public-spirited individuals and corporate organizations to come to the aid of the over one million people who are in dire need of support.
He praised efforts of the Nigerian Governors Forum for identifying with the people of Borno state at their moment of need by rallying support for the victims of the flood disaster and appealed to Local Government Councils across the country to emulate them.
Senator Dariye commended efforts of securiry agencies , especially the Nigerian Army for their timely intervention in providing succour to the displaced persons.
While condoling with the government and people of Borno state over the unfortunate incident , Senator Dariye prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident.
