Popular Jos On-Air Personality Tok Morgan aka BigBlunt has criticised government’s involvement in sponsoring religious Pilgrimage call the act a waste of funds.
In a Facebook Post, the Broadcast Journalist suggested the Plateau government to discontinue the sponsorship of both Christians and Muslims pilgrims and use the funds to sponsor young Plateau People to study critical courses overseas.
The post has so far attracted comments from social media users who also agreed that government shouldn’t have any business sponsoring pilgrims.
A social media user with the name Gowok Golpee said “Seriously, pilgrimage should be self sponsored not using tax payers money to be sponsoring people. Some have gone there 5 times with tax payers money.”
Another commentor Tupshit Parmwes said most of those benefiting are those close to government while it does not have economic benefits to the state.
