The former assistant headmaster at Anguwan Rogo Local Education Authority Primary School, has told the National Assembly Election Tribunal that the certificate of Hon Muhammad Adam was, “never forged.”
Testifying before the tribunal, Tijjani Mohammed Nazi, said he issued the School leaving certificate to Hon. Muhammad Adam, on the instructions of his former headmaster Hajiya Mairo Sani, in 2006.
Hon. Ibrahim Baba Hasan and his All Progressives Congress APC, are challenging the educational qualification of Hon. Muhammad Adam, that contested for the Federal House of Representatives, under his Peoples Redemption Party in the last general election.
However, many witnesses had testified in favour of the respondent, whereat, some of them told the tribunal that they were former school and classmates, with whom they sat for the common entrance examination and graduated from Anguwan Rogo primary school.
Giving further evidence, the former assistant headmaster of the school,
Tijjani Mohammed Nazi, through his witness statement on oath, said he worked with the Jos North Local Education Authority from 1987 to 2019.
“I retired as assistant headmaster master 1 and I also served as assistant headmaster 3 at LGEA Primary School Anguwan Rogo, Jos from 2004 to 2012…and the facts hereunder are within my knowledge.
“That the certificate of Primary Education with reference number 45472
was issued by me in 2006, in my capacity as assistant headmaster 3, it is not forged, and is genuine,” he said amongst other statements.
He also told the tribunal that he personally signed the document.
“I signed the certificate, as the Assistant Headmaster of the school and I can repeat the signature. I have exam officers and they fill the gaps, while I only signed.”
According to him, the Jos crises had affected
the school and some documents were either missing or misplaced as at 2006 including master list of the pupils that graduated from the school in 1990.
The witness said it was a fact that as at 2006, one Gambo Adamu, was not a headmaster at the school, whereas Mr. Azi Ajiji was his Headmaster.
He expressed and surprised that Mr. Ajiji, had said that the certificate was forged, even he (Ajiji) had left the school in February, 2006.
The petition has been adjourned for adoption of Final Address by the Tribunal.
