The Plateau State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Southern Senatorial Zone has hailed the National and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal Judgements and call security agencies to deal decisively with crisis machants.
The Party under the Leadership of it’s Southern Senatorial Zone Chairman Hon. Alhaji Abdullahi Musa Nyalum made the statement in a World Press Conference which took place at the Southern Senatorial Zone Party Secretariat Shendam Local Government Council of the State today Wednesday 20th September, 2023.
Hon Nyalum while addressing the press amidst faithful stated that it has become necessary to onbehalf of the APC in Southern Senatorial Zone of Plateau State to make the address in view of the unfolding political developments in the State.
Hon. Nyalum stated that it could be recall that on Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th September 2023, the Honourable Justice M.B Tukur-led National and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal had declared H.E. Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong, the Honourable Minister of Labour and Employment as Senator Representing Plateau South as well as Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase immediate past Deputy Speaker and Hon. Prince Vincent Venman Bulus as members Representing Wase and Langtang North/Langtang South Federal Constituencies respectively.
He said that, the tribunal had declared that the PDP in Plateau State lacks a valid structure for sponsoring a candidate and that the Party has been in disobedience of Court orders with these verdict, and the APC has to the glory of God regained some lost ground.
Furthermore, the Chairman frowned at
certain reactions by the leadership and some members of the opposition PDP to the
landmark judgment of the Tribunal which carefully considered all the merits, facts and evidence before passing its verdict.
Hon. Nyalum also stated that Sen. AVM-Napoleon
Bali (rtd) in a Television interview, claimed that there were tensions and
threat to peace in the Plateau Southern Zone over the Tribunal’s judgment.
This is completely false and untrue.
It is sad that this is the second time in less than one month that AVM Bali (rtd) is raising an
unnecessary alarm in the State.
The APC Southern Zone Chairman said, he recall how Sen. Bali, some months ago,
alleged that some politicians are behind the Mangu crises. Up till now, he has neither named the suspects nor provided any clue to security agencies. From all
indications, AVM Bali (rtd) who still thinks that he is in the military barracks seems to be nursing the military hang-over.
Furthermore, Hon. Nyalum revealed that contrary to his claim of tensions or
threats to peace in the Zone, there were mass
jubilations and celebrations all over the Zone because of the victory of the APC
candidates at the Tribunal.
He therefore condemn in strong terms
this brand of divisive politics while maintaining their unity and cohesion as citizens of the same
Zone.
He also said that it is important to stress that the collective interest of the Southern Zone is above the individual
ambition of AVM Napoleon Bali (rtd) hence he should not
imagine that the peace-loving people of this Zone would take up arms against each
other because he lost his Senatorial seat.
Hon. Nyalum also stated that as far as they are concerned, the Tribunal has done the right thing by declaring APC candidates as winners of the February 25th 2023 general elections.
The Chairman also condemned in totality recent statement made by Hon. Johnbull Shekarau and stated that Hon. Johnbull Shekarau a former Member
of the House of Representatives who thumped his chest at a PDP Kangaroo press conference last week here in Shendam that” Lalong will never
represent them in the Southern Zone and no judge, will take away the
supreme gift that God has given us”,
He said imagine, this is a
statement coming from a former Lawmaker.
This unfortunate and open declaration of
war on the Judiciary is indeed very strange and disheartening.
He assure the citizens of the Zone that heavens will not fall down if their Governorship candidate and the remaining House of Assembly candidates are declared victorious by the Tribunals.
