Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang of Plateau State, has describe peace as necessary tool for human survival.
Governor Mutfwang who was represented by Hon. Samuel N. Jatau the Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS) made the statement yesterday Thursday 21st September, 2023 while delivering a speech at the Plateau Peace Outing organize by Kwamkur Samuel Foundation in commemoration of 2023 International Peace Day Celebration held at NBTT Hall Old Airport Road, Jos Plateau State Capital.
Governor Mutfwang also stated that where there is no peace there can’t be coexistence as brothers and sisters.
Furthermore, Governor Mutfwang stated that all the people seated at the occasion, did not choose the family neither do they choose the tribe, nationality or religion they came from. But God decided to bring all where they found themselves.
He wondered why people spend their energy in fighting one another over something that God knows the reason why he made it to be so.
The Governor call on the people of the State to always do away with things that will bring disunity among themselves, instead they should be people that will always encourage one another to do things that will promote unity of the State.
On his part, Barr. Kwamkur Samuel Vondip President Kwamkur Samuel Foundation For Justice Peace Development in his speech stated that the international peace day is a date set aside bythe United Nations General Assembly to provide a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to peace above all differences.
He said, the 2023 International Peace Day is Themed; Action for Peace; Our Ambition for Global Goals;. This theme is meant to spur peace community, youth critical stakeholders and indeed all peace lovers to action that will promote mutual respect, compassion and value for one another.
Furthermore, he said the KSF in Nigeria have decided to domesticate the theme with a sub-theme based on the peculiarity and present challenges on ground.
He said, the sub-theme “The Misrepresentation of Religion and Ethnicity as obstacle for achieving peace in Nigeria.
Barr. Kwamkur revealed that while other nations struggle with natural disasters and climate change as major challenge to peace, Nigeria gabbles with religious intolerance, corruption, sectionalism, extreme poverty and ethnicity.
He said, the foundation’s main point is building sustainable peace that is based on Justice for a sustainable development. As their name implies ” Justice Peace Development”.
