The wild celebrations embarked upon by PDP fans and stakeholders following the adoption of addresses at the Supreme Court today 9th January, 2024 in the Plateau State Gubernatorial Supreme Court Appeal is characteristically synonymous of a fermented palm wine with thirst for social media and streets celebrations.
While this customarily trend of the PDP lasted, the APC and Labour Party has remained still like an island, unaffected by the needless fanfare going around, it was rather being strategic haven intellectually disabled PDP legal team in the court rooms. The near perfect victories recorded thus far should have taught PDP a lesson to avoid preempting the courts with premature celebrations and thugery.
As recent as in 2021, during Musa Agah’s rally at Polo Ground and when Appeal Court declared a suit against PDP vs PLASIEC, Mr Chris Hassan boycotted protocol to step on the podium and announce the case in favour of PDP.
While admitting that Appeal Court decided that PDP wasn’t qualified to contest Local Government Elections, the party was heading to Supreme Court and ordered the crowd to dance in celebrations which can best be described as a psychiatric personalities.
At Supreme Court the Party lost woefully in PLASIEC vs PDP suit but party faithfuls hired bikes and cars for celebrations in Jos declaring that the case will be reviewed.
Appeal court has since decided in all other elective seats but in a witchcraft manner of the PDP and the thirst for lawlessness, party faithfuls have been assured that all the cases already decided will be reviewed once Mutfwang wins at supreme Court in a bear parlour hope.
In the case between PDP State Executive Council Aspirants led by Hon Bitrus Bulus Kaze and 16 Ors, Justice Gang declared that PDP doesn’t have structure and Ordered For fresh Congresses from wards, LGAs and State but Party faithfuls storm streets in celebrations that the case will be appealed. Surprisingly, the party lost at Appeal Court and the party also boasted into celebrations
PDP’s celebrations of defeats as victories are not only indictments on the intellectual properties within the self acclaimed party leadership but a gross indictment of the followership who ordinarily should have been more informed by now. While it’s undoubtedly true that old character doesn’t go away easily, it’s hoped that when the Supreme Court judgement is passed, the incontrovertible justices wouldn’t be called names as has been the case with the sinking ship called PDP.
While today’s needless premature celebration after the adoption of written addresses at the Supreme Court isn’t surprising, PDP faithfuls are however assured of a shoulder to lean on in Dr Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, a leader who’s determined to build a Plateau truly united in purpose, let the celebrations continue until a new government takes over soon.
