Senator Simon Bako Lalong, representing Plateau South Senatorial District has promised to sponsor a bill on the role for traditional rulers in governance as a way of addressing the level insecurity and social vices bedevilling the country.

Special Adviser (Media) to Senator Simon Bako Lalong, Plateau South Senatorial District stated that Lalong who was speaking at the at the final traditional rites and Thanksgiving Mass held in honour of the late Long Kwo of Kwo Chiefdom HRH Miskoom Fidelis Longtoe Atahiru at Kwande, QuanPan Local Government Area of Plateau State.
He said the bill which failed passage in the 9th National Assembly will be reintroduced because of its importance to the progress of the nation.
Lalong described the late Royal Father as a man of courage, integrity and peace who served his people diligently before he joined his ancestors.
He said the late traditional ruler combined his military training and passion for service to bring together his people on ascending the throne of his ancestors after many years of vacancy in the stool.
Senator Lalong recalled that as Governor, he was privileged to present the staff of office to the monarch following the decision of the king makers.
Lalong who had earlier paid a condolence visit to the family of the deceased and the traditional council in Kwande urged the king makers and the people of the Chiefdom to be consoled by the legacies he left behind as well as honour his memory by upholding the traditions of the Kwo nation and conducting the selection of his successor in a peaceful manner.
The officiating Priest said the death of Long Kwo again reminds the people that life is transient and God will demand accountability from everyone.
He urged citizens to live lives worthy of God’s acceptance and serve humanity to the best of their ability.
